Core documents
- Valid national identity card or passport.
- Declaration under honour matching the legal basis of your residence.
- Status evidence if requested locally: employment, self-employment, study, retirement, self-sufficiency or family status.
- Real proof of residence in the municipality if requested locally.
- Family documents for minors or family member cases where applicable.
Documents by status
Employees may need employment evidence. Self-employed people may need professional or tax activity evidence. Students may need enrollment proof and evidence of resources. Retirees and self-sufficient residents may need resources evidence and, in some cases, health insurance. Municipal practice varies.
Address proof is often the deciding point
Many practical delays come from address proof. A rental contract, utility bill, property document, atestado or another accepted proof may be relevant depending on the municipality. The proof must reflect a real residence situation.
Do not over-document blindly
Bringing a large folder is not the same as preparing correctly. The goal is to match the right evidence to the right municipality and status.
