Short answer
Portuguese official guidance includes Swiss nationals in the category of people who may request the registration certificate through the Câmara Municipal in the area of residence.
Why the Swiss route should be prepared precisely
Some public pages use broad references to EU citizens, while the official service category also mentions Switzerland. The application should therefore be prepared with accurate wording and a valid Swiss identity document or passport.
Documents usually worth preparing
- Valid Swiss passport or national identity document.
- Proof of real residence in the Portuguese municipality.
- NIF if required or already available.
- Evidence of activity, study, resources or retirement income.
- Health coverage evidence when relevant.
Family members
If a Swiss citizen has a non-EU family member in Portugal, the Swiss citizen CRUE may be relevant to that family member route, but the family member process is separate and may involve AIMA.
How we help
We check the municipality, prepare the document list, review address proof and support the municipal step. If the case involves family residence cards, we route it separately.
