Children of EU citizens in Portugal

Children make CRUE and residence planning more sensitive. The correct route depends on the child nationality, age, dependency and family documents.

EU citizen children

A child who is an EU citizen may need their own CRUE registration if living in Portugal for more than three months. Municipal requirements can vary, especially for parents, identity documents and address proof.

Non-EU children

A non-EU child of an EU citizen may fall under the family member residence route handled through AIMA, not the standard CRUE route.

Documents matter early

Birth certificates, parental authority documents, apostilles and certified translations can become important. It is better to check document format before the appointment.

Why we add a consultation form here

Children cases are often not just a certificate question. They may involve immigration, school, healthcare, tax family status and document legalization.

Need help beyond CRUE?
